I think this is a really great idea! What a great way to increase transparency, accountability, and voter confidence--and turnout as a result!

That said, to provide some hopefully constructive feedback: my one concern is that someone would realistically take a quick glance at the word and remember a similar, but incorrect word (ie houses instead of house- or perhaps cause versus case) and either mistakenly see that their vote was not recorded or see that it was voted incorrectly. or what if they don't remember their vote correctly (realistically with elections for lesser known candidates, given voter apathy problems-ie congressional elections or state level elections)? what if they were correct about their word and their vote was actually recorded incorrectly somehow? all of these scenarios are unlikely but could definitely happen, and given the anonymity of the process, would be difficult to overcome. can they fix their vote? probably not. so will they just be helplessly outraged?

I do think this is an excellent idea though--just thought you might want to consider some potential problems that you may run into...how do you plan to make this reality?

Hi Judy K. and Lee -

Thanks for coming by! It's great to see you both.

I agree that Paul has a fantastic idea here; a simple concept and easy to implement, too. Being able to audit your own vote is long past due, I agree....

Great idea whos time is long past due. Now we just need an idea to eliminate parties so that people can vote for the person and not the party!
